Abstract

Mental health issues represent a significant concern, with the percentage of work-related stress in Indonesia increasing yearly. A preliminary survey conducted at Suzuya Marelan Plaza Medan involving five Sales Promotion Girls (SPG) revealed that they experienced workload and job fatigue. To determine the relationship between mental workload and job fatigue with work-related stress among SPG employees at Suzuya Marelan Plaza Medan in 2023. This study utilized an analytical survey with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of 107 SPG employees, with a sample of 52 SPG employees selected using the Slovin formula. Data analysis employed univariate and bivariate (Chi-square) analyses. The bivariate test showed that the job fatigue variable had a sig-p value of 0.003 < 0.05, indicating a significant relationship between job fatigue and work-related stress among SPG employees at Suzuya Marelan Plaza Medan in 2023. Similarly, the mental workload variable had a sig-p value of 0.025 < 0.05, indicating a significant relationship between mental workload and work-related stress among these employees.Mental workload and job fatigue significantly correlate with work-related stress. It is recommended that SPG employees enhance their knowledge and performance to improve productivity.
