Abstract

The government has issued a Ministerial Regulation, namely Permenaker No. 9 of 2016, regarding Occupational Safety and Health in Work at Heights, which outlines the safety procedures for working at heights. According to Permenaker No. 9 of 2016, collective fall protection devices can include walls, boundary walls, or safety fences with the following requirements: a minimum height of 95 cm, capable of withstanding a load of 0.9 kilonewton, a vertical distance of 47 cm, and a toeboard that is sufficient and adequate to prevent falling objects. Currently, there is no standard testing method to measure the ability to withstand a 0.9-kilonewton load on collective fall protection devices. Testing of 32 fence points refers to the inspection and testing method of safety fences in SNI 8603:2018. Based on the test results, it was found that within the static load range of 0.9 kN, the mean deflection value obtained was 2.50 cm, indicating that the test can show the effect of static load on the deflection of the fall protection fence.
